SCHOOL BOARD CANDIDATE SURVEYS
Update! Sarasota County School Board candidate Cathy Hodgson withdrew from this year's race on Thursday, July 15, 2010 stating, "It is with great regret that I withdraw from the Sarasota County School Board race today. Circumstances within my family have altered drastically in recent weeks, and I have chosen to move with my family back to our hometown in Arkansas."
"I extend my best warm wishes to Shirley Brown, and trust that she will serve the citizens of Sarasota County in a continued spirit of service and open-minded diligence, " stated Hodgson. "Thank you all for making this campaign a great pleasure for me; you have enriched my life, and your service to me will continue to inspire me to serve others."
In preparation for the 2010 School Board elections the Sarasota County Arts Council's Arts Education Task Force (AETF) asked candidates for the school board for their viewpoints on the role of arts education in our schools. The following candidates also attended interviews with the AETF on July 1, 2010 - Shirley Brown, Jane Goodwin, Carol Todd and Barry Woolf.
