The AACT International 2010 is a grand gathering of community and amateur theatres from around the globe. This year's "Festival in Paradise" will run June 22 through 27, featuring performances from up to 14 theatre troupes, that will represent four to five different continents. All works will be performed in the companies' native languages and styles.
Venice Theatre has just announced some of the companies selected for the 2010 festival. They include, but are not limited to:
- The Lieder Theatre Company, Australia, presenting The Colour Purple
- Wake Art Theatre, Romania, presenting Shakespeare, I Love You
- Chinese Opera Institute, Singapore, presenting Painted Skin
- Georgian Modern Theatre Center, Georgia, presenting Auschwitz
"The productions are not only entertaIning – with strong performers – they are also highly visual in nature," says Venice Theatre's Executive/Artistic Director, Murray Chase. "Everyone will be able to enjoy each production, even if they are not familiar with the material or the language."
