Purnama Sari Balinese Dance Company will present traditional dances from “The Island of the Gods.” The troupe’s performance at Rising Tide International in Sarasota last year brought a standing room only crowd. The audience was spellbound by the magic of Balinese classical and ritual dances. These are punctuated by otherworldly dance vocabulary, including signature eye movement called Seledet and dazzling costumes glittered in regal colors. Drawing from its extensive repertoire, Purnama Sari will introduce the audience at the Art Center to dances that express stories from Balinese myth and Hindu epics. Ancient mask dances that embody a plethora of archetypes will also be presented. Tickets are on sale at the Art Center Sarasota.
