This demonstration is by gallery artist Jason Bourgholtzer and is the eighth in a series of lectures and demonstrations scheduled throughout the gallery's 2009 – 2010 season. Jason will discuss and demonstrate the basic applications of lampworking, an ancient art form used by the Egyptians. Bourgholzter will use modern tools to create a small candle holder, a galaxy pendant, and a sea life sculpture.
Each demo will contain techniques used specifically for creating each individual piece. A basic knowledge of the science and tools that go into the art of lamp work will be discussed, and any questions are welcome throughout the demonstration.
The demonstration is free and open to the public; however, reservations are required due to the limited amount of space.
Come join the Katharine Butler Gallery and experience the art of glass blowing!
