Aria Ready

Hanan Alattar, soprano and Grigorios Zamparas, piano

The up-and-coming soprano Hanan Alattar has been hailed as “a singer of obvious promise” by the Denver Post. She recently made her debut at the English National Opera as Musetta in a new production of La Bohéme. Other recent appearances include her debut at the Ravinia Festival as Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail, in concert at the Salzburg Festival, the Bard Music Festival’s production of Der Zwerg, and at the Berlin Staatsoper in Manon. She thrilled audiences with her Pamina in Die Zauberflöte at the Arizona Opera and as Dragonette in the world premiere of Elliot Goldenthal’s Grendel at both the Los Angeles Opera and the Lincoln Center Festival.

Ms. Alattar received an Artist Diploma and a Masters of Music degree from The Juilliard School, and a Bachelor of Music Degree from University of Texas at Austin. She is also the recipient of a 2004 Sullivan Foundation Award and the winner of the 2002 Aspen Concerto Competition. Of her performance in The Abduction from the Seraglio at Ravinia, the New City Stage said Ms. Alattar showed, “stunning ease through the soprano stratosphere …” while La Scena Musicale said, “This Lebanese-American soprano … is definitely one to watch.”

Grigorios Zamparas has received critical acclaim for his versatile performing career as recitalist, orchestra soloist and chamber musician in Greece, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, Russia, Latin America and the US. He has performed at the prestigious Newport Music Festival, the Mainly Mozart Festival and the Salon of the Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria, among others. He has been featured as a soloist in more than twenty different piano concerti with orchestras around the world. He began studying music at the age of seven in Greece, where he received his first piano degree in 1995. He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Miami.
