Sarasota Opera produces outstanding opera true to the vision of the composer to entertain, enrich, and educate our communities, as well as patrons from across the state and around the world.

We are internationally recognized for the quality of our performances and for our signature artistic initiatives, the Verdi Cycle (performances of all of the works of Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi) and the Masterworks Revival Series (presenting neglected works of artistic merit). In 2011 we will introduce the American Classics Series, during which we will present some of the great operas written during the twnetieth century.

Sarasota Opera performs in the 1,100 seat Sarasota Opera House, an historic 1926 theater which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Opera House has been called "one of America's finest venues for opera" by Musical America.
