Welcome to the Banyan Theater Company!
Great theater broadens the mind and opens the heart. It helps us look at life’s issues with understanding and compassion. Great theater is engrossing. It propels us along by telling an interesting story we increasingly care about. Great theater has a beauty and eloquence that must be honored while it touches our deepest sense of truth. Ultimately, great theater satisfies in a way no other experience can.
The Banyan Theater Company produces award-winning professional theater in the summer and will present its 11th season from June-August 2012. In the beginning, many said a company like this – producing plays of literary merit in the summer – would never work. However, critics have lauded us as "one of the best things that’s happened to Sarasota theater in the last 10 years."
We perform in the intimate Jane B. Cook Theatre, which is inside the FSU Center for Performing Arts, at 5555 N. Tamiami Trail in Sarasota (adjacent to the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art).
