Each year Sarasota's bay front is home to both the Sarasota Season of Sculpture and Embracing Our Differences® art exhibits.
Sarasota Season of Sculpture
Sarasota Season of Sculpture works to build public support for art through awareness, education and enjoyment; and to promote and celebrate cultural diversity by including regional, national and international sculptures. Sarasota Season of Sculpture's international invitational exhibits of large-scale proportion have become a major annual highlight of Sarasota's arts scene, drawing visitors from around the globe. The more than two dozen sculptures manage to turn the bayfront into a "museum without walls."
Embracing Our Differences®
The Embracing Our Differences® exhibit, presented by Coexistence, Inc. demonstrates the positive way that diversity enriches our lives. Each year the exhibit features 39 billboard size images created by professional artists, art students, and school children from Florida and around the world. The images are accompanied by a quotations that are chosen from entries submitted by members of the community, and speak of the value of respecting the differences of others. Since 2004, the Embracing Our Differences® exhibit has been viewed by more than 550,000 visitors.
More information, including information on the Public Art Committee and procedures and policies related to public art, is available on the City of Sarasota's Website.
